McCollum – Client Meeting – 2026.03.26

Steel Detailing And Staircase

Jeff reviewed and signed off on original steel design intent — renderings were a key factor in approval

Keith has questions for Monday regarding the door at the staircase level

Peter to produce stair flange and steel detail — has material in hand, estimated one week turnaround

Steel sign-off frees the masonry crew to move from the hallway to the staircase efficiently

Fireplace Doors

Peter provided pricing for fireplace doors — Brett to forward to Jeff

Jeff is expecting this as an add and has been advised accordingly

Fireplace steel skeleton not yet started — team pivoted focus to hall wall and staircase first

Shower Glass Channels

Primary Bath (Upstairs)

Recessed channels required — must be addressed after dry-in using Schluter fabric before tile on curbs and vertical surfaces

Floor tile can proceed before channels are in place; curb and vertical tile cannot

Brett to follow up with Fernando on site visit and channel detail confirmation

Finish preference: brushed nickel or anodized aluminum — nothing shiny; match hardware finish if possible

Stock finish acceptable given minimal visibility through glass

Lower Bath (Bypass)

Surface-mounted glass channel package confirmed — no recessed condition required

Structural Beams And Columns

Structural engineer confirmed beams can be textured in place — limit sanding to no more than 1/16 inch; chisel texture is approved

Painter believes Douglas fir beams can potentially be stained to approximate white oak tone but noted it would not be easy and requires samples and process development

Consensus: in-place staining of fir is risky — stain depth and color consistency are difficult to achieve and could impact schedule

Preferred path remains box beam wrap in matching veneer — consistent with columns, headers, hallway, and mudroom

Beam wrap samples arriving — half received, remainder expected by Friday

Team to review beam samples on Wednesday before committing to a path

Previous sample rejected due to poor color and excessive chisel/distressing — new samples expected to be closer to target

Solarium Structure

Solarium framing to be sanded smooth and painted to match the window package — black bronze to blend with existing window frames

Painter to reference existing windows for color match

Ellis to confirm and select specific paint color

Tile And Drains

Drains arriving Friday — tile crew to begin packing shower pans upon receipt

Tile installation has not yet begun — timing was optimistic in prior meeting

Overall project schedule not currently impacted by drain delay

Plan remains to install bathroom cabinetry before floor tile — no reason to change this sequence at this time

Drywall And Texture

Currently in second coat of mud — corners being built, sanding in preparation for texture

Significant texture progress expected by Wednesday

Wood Floors

Floors are in Haley — installation timeline being coordinated around labor availability, drywall/paint sequence, and masonry sequence

Stone must dry before installation can proceed

Stone Masonry

Masonry has not started in the hallway or living room — was held pending steel sign-off

Steel approval now allows masonry crew to return and work continuously from hallway through staircase

Cabinet Finish Sample

Cabinet sample needed by Wednesday for painter to develop finish match

Ellis to bring cabinet sample to Wednesday meeting — Reagan to set it out in advance

Plan to cut sample in half so Ellis retains a control piece

Door and trim color sample currently in progress — to be reviewed Wednesday

Mesh For Cabinetry And Fireplace Door

Mesh sample used in fireplace door prototype is at the office — no product identification or source noted on sample

Same mesh to be used in laundry room cabinetry and fireplace door

Reagan confirmed mesh is in hand — Peter can borrow it if needed to identify source

Brett to track down mesh product details

Stone Slabs

Ellis anticipates slab selection on Monday from local LA slab yards, including one in Petaluma

Brett to confirm fabricator's process for owner-provided slabs and coordinate payment and purchase protocol

Brett to provide delivery address and fabricator contact to Ellis ahead of Monday

Brett available Monday to act as intermediary if slab purchase needs to move quickly

Some slab yards will not sell directly to homeowners — fabricator purchase may be required

Precedent: Brunatini project used owner-provided slabs with Classic as fabricator — similar arrangement may apply here

Action Items Summary

Brett — follow up with Fernando on shower channel recessed detail (upstairs)

Brett — send fireplace door pricing to Jeff

Brett — confirm fabricator process and contact for slab purchase; provide delivery address to Ellis

Brett — have painter reference window package for solarium paint color match

Brett — get beam wrap samples ready for Wednesday review

Reagan — set out cabinet sample for Wednesday morning meeting

Reagan — locate mesh product source information; make available for Peter if needed

Ellis — bring cabinet sample to Wednesday meeting; cut in half to retain control piece

Ellis — confirm solarium paint color selection

Ellis — pursue slab selection Monday; coordinate with Brett on purchase logistics
